Additional information about this job:Field Club of Greenwich (GFC) is seeking responsible lifeguards for the 2025 Swim season.
Monday through Sunday Schedule
Assist Aquatics Director/Pool Director as required.
Lifeguard attire must be uniform and clean.
No sneakers or other footwear is allowed when guarding in the lifeguard chairs.
Lifeguard Job Description & Pay Rates: 2024-25
Overview: Field Club lifeguards must demonstrate dependability in three areas of organization: safety, behavior, and responsibility.*
1. Safety: Know the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and be able to manage emergency situations with a team.
2. Behavior: Engage positively with member families and interact professionally with management staff
3. Responsibility: understand and follow requirements in three areas:
Expectations:
- No using your phone in the guard shack.
- No eating club meals in the guard shack. Do not leave club food (your meal or others’) on the lifeguard desk; instead, place it in the fridge or break area
- Do not sit on club furniture on the pool deck
- Park cars on the grass by the white tent
- No music or speakers allowed outside of camp hours
Duties:
- Follow a rotation. i.e. keep two lifeguards “up” (supervising the pool) when swimmers are in the big & little ends. Although it’s the head lifeguard’s responsibility to oversee the rotation,lifeguards must be able to enact an even rotation without supervision.
- Keep the pool neat and clean. i.e.: vacuum the pool; sweep/dustpan around the pool, sidewalks, and grass; pick up straw trash, band-aids, etc.; organize the club furniture & umbrellas; take the trash out in front of the guard shack and in the break area
Uniform/Gear:
- Wear a nametag
- Wear the lifeguard uniform: field club t-shirt, red bathing suit, lifeguard hat (optional)
- Post your photo at the beginning of the shift when you clock in.
- Have your own CPR mask/whistle
- No hoodie sweatshirts. Red or white crew sweaters are allowed in cold weather

Pay rates: pay rates depend on a lifeguard’s years of experience.
