Shorehaven is one of the most admired clubs in Fairfield County. Founded in 1924, Shorehaven Golf Club enjoys a beautiful location offering spectacular views and a unique links style course. Located in the middle of the county, the club draws its membership from both executives commuting to NYC and local business owners and professionals. While its members are upscale, the culture of the club is friendly and easy going.

Shorehaven has undergone significant capital improvements over the past several years, including a Nantucket style clubhouse, Work Lounge, Golf Simulator, 4 Paddle Ball Courts, Paddle & Camp Pavilion, Bocce courts, Pool Café, Boardwalk Café, Boardwalk Dining, Lap Pool, Dive Pool, and Wading Pool along with a state-of-the-art Filtration Pump Room.

Pool Director
Reports to: Assistant General Manager and General Manager

Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Physical Education, Recreation Management or Health Sciences preferred.
• Maintains all proper certifications and training for self and pool staff.
• Three years of experience as an Assistant Pool Director at a club of comparable size and stature.
• Competitive swimming experience as either a coach or athlete preferred but not essential.
• Lifeguard training and experience teaching swim lessons required.
• Private club experience preferred.
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations
• Broad knowledge and experience in Pool Chemistry, Operations, and Management.
• Monitors and coordinates Pool Safety Programs and Risk Management.
• Employs only those methods and teaching techniques outlined and approved by the American Red Cross.
• Thoroughly understands specific state and local laws and statutes regarding pool safety and inspections.
• Knowledge of and ability to perform personal role in emergency situations. Maintains and/or writes reports of all incidents.
Job Summary: Responsible for the entire pool operation, including the safe and effective use of chemicals, swimming instruction, the club’s swim team. Supervises safe, clean, well maintained, and appealing the club swimming facilities.

Job Tasks:
• Works with contracted Pool Maintenance company to ensure the supervision and evaluation of all equipment.
• Ensures that all weekly schedules and rotation schedules for all pool employees are adhered to.
• Along with the hiring or rehiring of lifeguards, the necessary orientation and ongoing training for all pool staff is required.
• Enforces all club rules of safety and conduct.
• Assists in the rendering of First Aid according to standards established by the American Red Cross and American Heart Association.
• Plans and directs special club events.
• Writes correspondence to club members about swim lessons, class times and fees; writes pre and post season letters to the membership to encourage the continuation of building members children’s aquatic skills through lessons, swim, and dive teams. Writes monthly articles for the club’s newsletter for the months of May through September.
• Represents the club in activities as required.
• Orders and sells swimsuits and other pool accessories; keeps accurate records of sales utilizing the clubs POS system.
• Maintains and keeps all necessary records concerning pool attendance, pool chemicals, accident reports, member incident reports, lifeguard, and instructor schedules, etc.
• Develops and implements pool safety program and schedules staff to provide adequate protection for members and guests.
• Assists in Pool Opening and Closing at the beginning and end of each season.
• Interacts with Outside Contractors, when necessary, to maintain and upgrade the pool facility.
• Provides aquatic-related information for club communications.
• Manages the Pool area lost and found.
• Manages the pool area, including but not limited to, the Great Lawn, the locker rooms and changing rooms for cleanliness and order.
• Is available during special pool events.
• Oversees the Coaches for Swim and Dive Teams.
• Keeps attendance records of members and children attending lessons.
• Helps to organize and reads line-ups during swim meets.
• Organizes transportation to and from external swim meets.
• Helps coordinate Swim Banquet and Awards program.
• Operates the Pool and surrounding areas in compliance with OSHA requirements; maintains all necessary MSDS’s.
• Attends all Pool Committee meetings.
Licenses and Special Requirements
• Must have current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification.
• Red Cross progressive Swimming Instructor Certificate desirable.
• American Red Cross Basic First Aid, AED, and CPR Certifications are required.
• Certified Pool/Spa Operator (CPO) offered by the National Swimming Pool Foundation desirable.

Shorehaven’s Pools are open seasonally from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day.

Pay: Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
